Sr. Specialist – Cross-Border Operations (India & China) 

Preferred Location: Birgunj/Raxaul

Job Summary:

The Sr. Specialist will be responsible for managing and growing cross-border logistics operations 

between Nepal, India, and China. The role involves coordinating shipments, maintaining client 

relationships, negotiating with transporters and customs agents, ensuring smooth documentation, 

and identifying new business opportunities to expand cross-border transportation services. 

Key Responsibilities:

Operations Management

• Coordinate import/export shipments (Nepal, India, China)
• Track shipments and ensure on-time delivery
• Coordinate with transporters, customs agents, warehouses, and border offices
• Resolve transit, customs, and delivery issues
• Ensure compliance with customs and trade regulations

Customer Relationship Management

• Act as the main point of contact for clients
• Provide shipment updates and operational support
• Understand customer needs and offer logistics solutions
• Handle inquiries, complaints, and service issues
• Maintain customer satisfaction, retention, and recovery cycle

Business Development

• Identify new cross-border logistics opportunities
• Generate leads and acquire long-term clients
• Prepare and share quotations

Documentation & Compliance

• Verify shipping and customs documents
• Ensure documentation accuracy for smooth clearance
• Maintain operational records and reports

Coordination & Vendor Management

• Manage relationships with transporters, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and authorities
• Negotiate transportation rates and service terms
• Monitor vendor performance and maintain a vendor network

Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports
• Analyze operational performance and key metrics

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or related field. 
• 2–5 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, freight forwarding, or cross-border transportation. 
• Experience handling India-Nepal or China-Nepal trade operations is preferred. 
• Knowledge of customs procedures at Birgunj, Bhairahawa, Rasuwagadhi, Tatopani, and major Indian border points. 
• Familiarity with FTL, PTL, and multimodal transportation. 
• Ability to communicate in English, Hindi, and Nepali. 
• Strong commercial and operational mindset. 

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of cross-border logistics and customs procedures. 
• Knowledge of Nepal, India, and China trade routes. 
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills. 
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. 
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple shipments simultaneously. 
• Good relationship management and customer service skills.
